What is a Pack?
A pack is made up of Leaders, Scouts and their families. The Pack determines the activites the scouts participate in throughout the year. Activities include such things as Den meetings, Hikes, Picnics, Camp-Outs etc. The Pack meets monthly in Pack Meetings. Pack meetings are generally held each month in the Mountainview United Methodist Church meeting room located at 1077 Viewpointe Lane, Forest VA 24551. Pack meetings are where awards are distributed and where Dens share their experiences with the rest of the pack. The meeting lasts about an hour, and the scout's entire family is welcome to attend.
What is a Den?
Boys in the pack are grouped into dens based on their grade levels. Each Den has a name. The youngest Dens are the Tiger Cubs, followed by the Wolves, then the Bears, and lastly the Webelos. There are 2 levels of Webelos dens. Each Webelo den may take on another nickname such as the Dragons. Dens usually meet weekly to work on achievements and have fun. Den meetings last about an hour. Each den is led by adult volunteers, typically adult family members of the boys in the den. Each Den will have a Den Leader and usually an Assistant Den Leader. The time and location of the den meetings are determined by the den leadership.
Joining Scouts is a great adventure for the whole family and something the scout will remember his whole life. We know this because most of the adult leaders were scouts when they were growing up, and they had such a good time in scouting, that not only did they encourage their boys to join, but they renewed their scouting experience by becoming leaders for their boys.
